Gun Control?

What has this country come to?  The President has now basically gone to war with everyday Americans like myself over Gun Control.  People wake up!!!  You do realize that you are slowly giving everyone of your rights away to a government that wants to own you body and soul.
Think about the past several years.  It all started with 9/11.  President Bush took away your right to privacy with the Patriot Act.  This act allowed the  Federal Government to listen to phone conversations and to monitor business transactions of all Americans.  Initially the Democrats were appalled that the President took these rights from Americans but in 2011 Democratic President Barack Obama signed a four year extension to this Act. 
Next to take away your rights was Obama Care.  This massive piece of legislation took away the right of Americans to have freedom of choice...no matter what it was they were purchasing.  In this case its insurance.  Every American is now forced to purchase health insurance, whether they want to or not. 
Now they want to take away your right to defend yourself.  It starts with small steps but trust me when I say these steps will get bigger and bigger. 
Why does the government want to disarm you?  What can it gain?  I will start off by saying its not about hunting.  And do not be fooled by the Washington beaurocrats telling you that taking away assault rifles won't hurt anyone because no one hunts with an assault rifle.  And its not about defending yourself against a burglar, a shotgun could take care of that.  The Second Amendment to the US Constitution gaurantees the right to bare arms.  Here is the quote from the constitution, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed".  What does this mean?  It means that the American people have the right to defend themselves against a corrupt Government and keep themselves free.
If the government can take your ability to defend yourself then they have taken away the last obstacle before they can actually own you.
Its time for the American people to wake up and stop the insanity of both parties.  Give back the basic rights and allow people to life free and unobstructed lives.

The Federal deficit is down almost 50%, just as predicted over last year.

Home valuations are up 200% over the past 3.5 years.

Inflation is in check, hovering at 20 year lows.

Not a single terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11/01.
A new direction from there means, what?

Osama bin Laden is living under a rock in a dark cave, having not surfaced in years, if he's alive at all, while 95% of Al Queda's top dogs are either dead or in custody, cooperating with US Intel.

I forgot the No More Katrina Storm Plan.

Now I know why I feel good after the elections. I am going to be able to sleep so much better at nights knowing these dedicated politicians are thinking of me and my family's welfare.

OUR LIFE

I've spent the last few days thinking about our world. About my place in it and what is happening there. In particular I have been thinking about the War in Iraq.

Is it a War for the liberation of Iraq? Is it a War to stop a dictator that threatened the US with Weapons of Mass Destruction? Yes to both but its more than that. The War in Iraq is the front line in the War against Islamic Terrorism. I didn't say a War against Islam because there are many Muslims that do not believe terrorism is right. They believe in peacful coexistance. No this War is against the terrorist and Iraq is where they have decided to take a stand.

If we do not fight them there we will end up fighting them here. They have to know that we as Americans will not bow down and appologize for how we live. We will not bow down and worship a God that we do not believe in. We will not bow down and accept their values as our values. Just as we do not force our ideology on them they should not be forcing theirs upon us.

I enjoy a drink in the evening, I do not overendulge. If the terrorist get their way that will be gone. I love my wife and enjoy evenings out with her. If the terrorist get their way that will be gone, my wife will be a second class citizen, not allowed out in the evening. I love my God and worship him as I see acceptable to him and me. If the terrorists win that will be gone, for they see no other God as acceptable.

Pretty girls on the beach, lively games at the local pub, pig pickens(Bar-B-Que) will all be gone. This is my world and I like it. I think we should carry the War on terrorism to the enemy. We should stay in Iraq and Afghanistan and take the War to where ever the enemy is and stay there until our enemy is defeated. Not a defeat like Korea or Vietnam but like in WWI and WWII. Until the enemy is truely beaten. And do not be misled, our President is with us, I can't say the same for all politicians. But come election time I will vote for the President that sees the War the way I do.

Then my world will be safe.

GAS and TERRORISM

I don't know if anyone has made the correlation here but are we funding our own destruction? We are buying gas from countries that are supporting terrorist activities against our own country, killing our own people.

Petroleum we buy from the Middle East goes to countries that have and will continue to support terrorist, even with promises and assurances to the contrary, it happens. Just take the example of the 911 hijackers, they had ties to Saudi Arabia, the explosion of the USS Cole was in Yemen a country that is a strong US supporter in that region. And now we get word that Citgo, one of the largest and cheapest suppliers of gas to the US is owned by Venezuela, whose Pesident, Chavez is calling for the destruction of the US. BP, British Petroleum has strong ties to Iran, another anti-US country, does anyone remember the US Embassy takeover? Chevron has strong ties to Venezuela, back to President Chavez and his anti-American retoric. Shell Oil has ties with China. This list goes on and on.

But have we stopped buying gas from them? No, we continue to support these companies and the countries that prfit from them.

I have taken steps myself, I know that I cannot stop driving, but I do attempt to buy from small companies that may be buying their gas from local sources. I have tried to stop driving as much as possible. I walk when I can and I avoid long unnessesary trips. I plan several errends at one time so that I don't continue to come and go.

I have started taking a good look at my home and I am taking steps to reduce the consumption of energy there. Thats not a direct line to the gas pump but it will reduce our dependency.

This is not alot just an awareness thing that we all should be looking at. The next time you read about Iran, Iraq, Venezuela and think that we should do something, we are, we are funding them.

Why Things Happen

I take a look at our world today and wonder... what went wrong. Why are children shooting children? Why are adults going into schools and shooting children? I watch programs like "To Catch a Predator" and see dozens of adults wanting to have a sexual relationship with a child. I watch the news and see home invasions, car jackings, murder, rape, etc... the list goes on and on.

When I was growing up I did things that we wouldn't even consider today. I walked a couple of miles to the store, played all over the neighborhood, we left our house unlocked, we let our neighbors pick up our kids, we carried pocket knives to school. These are things we would not consider today.

So whats changed? What has happened to our society?

I'll tell you my opinion. We have become facinated with death, destruction, sex, and a lack of morality.

TV shows and movies are not successful unless they have graphic violence, foul language, nudity and sex. We talk a good game about not letting our kids watch these programs but in the end we watch them and so do our children. We watch shows where criminals win, where crime pays, shows like "Thief" and "Smith"

We make role models out of pro athletes who in reality are nothing but thugs. In fact some of the sponsors that pay them to endorse their merchandise only considers those athletes that have "street cred". They have to have had some sort of criminal background. Rloe models today, those that should be endorsing shoes, should be the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines that keep our country safe. It should be the fireman, policeman and ambulance driver that races to save someone they don't know.

We no longer watch out for our neighbors. We don't ask who people in our neighborhood who they are. We don't watch out for the care of our neighbors things or their kids. We don't take the time to walk over to a neighbors house and say hello, or ask them to cook out, any of those "neighborly" things.

We don't care about our family. We don't help our brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts or uncles out. I had an uncle die recently, we went to the funeral home when the visitation started. One of his daughters and his grandson were there. I asked where his other three daughters and their families were, no one knew. I called, they all had excuses. The worst was "we are having dinner and may make it later" It was her father!!! He wasn't perfect, but he did give her life and never ever mistreated them.

We have taken God out of our lives, we have taken him out of the school, out of the government and out of our lives. When I was growing up, one of the first things people asked you when they met you was, "where do you go to church?". If you said you didn't then no one wanted to socialize with you.

Morality has taken a back seat to what we can get, no matter how we get it. Did you know there used to be laws against adultery. Now its fashionable.

Its time we go back to the old ways and embrace our neighbors, our families and our church. Stop expecting to get total satisfaction, Teach your children what is important and spend time with them.

And most of all, STOP tolerating immorality, crime and bad behavior!!!!

FOLEYS FOLLY

Ex Congressman Foley has crossed aline that should never be crossed. He attempted to have relationships with 16 and 17 year old pages. It didn't matter that these were young people sent to work and learn how our government works, it could have been a child in any town, it could have been yours and it could have been mine. What he did was wrong and immoral, in fact what he did was illegal. Just watch the MSNBC specials "To Catch A Predator", none of the men arrested on that show had sex with teenagers, all they did was send sexually explicit E-mails. The same thing Foley did.

What makes this worse is he was "co-chair of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children". His job was to set up legislation to protect our children from people like him. I have to ask myself, did he do the job with our children in mind or with his own interests in mind. That should be a subject of investigation, in fact, every member of that comittee should be investigated.

Next to be investigated is House Speaker Dennis Hastert. If he knew of Foleys activities he should resign and also be arrested for aiding a criminal. He knew what Foley was doing, maybe not the extent but he admitted he had talked about it with him. So I have to ask, why was Foley left in the position of setting up legislation to protect children from the predators when he was one himself. It was like putting the Wolf in charge of the hen house.

I am a Conservative and this bites at the root of what I believe. Conservatives stand on morality and doing whats right. Its time we show the nation that we practice what we preach. I am also a retired Naval Officer, I knew that if I did anything closly resembling what Foley did I could expect to be fired from my job and court martialed, maybe even face imprisonment. I have to ask what the difference is between what he did and what other military officers have been court martialed for.... sexually harrassing subordinates. The Pages are subordinates, he had power and he attempted to use his power for sexual gain.

Lets send that message. Lets let the country know that the right thing will be done and all those that supported the sexual deviant, Mark Foley will be punished.
